Curtain Call's final show of the season will be the 1984 Tony Award-winning musical, Big River. Based on the Mark Twain novel from 100 years earlier, "Huckleberry Finn", Big River won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score, among others.

Auditions for all roles and ensemble will be held Monday and Tuesday, April 1 and 2, at The Kweskin Theatre, 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT Performances of Big River will be held in The Kweskin Theatre, June 7 through 22. Rehearsals begin April 8. Full details, including audition scenes and songs, are available at www.curtaincallinc.com/auditions. All roles are open. Especially seeking African American actors for leading and featured roles.

Those auditioning should prepare a brief song (something from the show is fine) and be prepared to read from the script if asked. You may also be asked to learn a brief dance combination. For more information, call 203-329-8207 or write info@curtaincallinc.com.

The story is the one we all know. Huck and Jim run away together on a raft. Jim is trying to escape slavery and Huck is trying to hide from being a part of polite society. It follows their adventures. It includes their entanglement with The King and The Duke , two grifters, who bring turmoil to the two travelers. The evil duo’s actions are almost calamitous, not just for Huck and Jim, but for Mary Jane Wilkes. Wilkes’ father has died, and the two criminals try to steal her estate. In the end, Huck and Jim manage to survive, and Jim gains his freedom. Both develop an understanding of each other which is beautifully sung in “Worlds Apart.”

Curtain Call is the non-profit community-based theatre company in residence at The Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Avenue in Stamford.
