St. Vincent’s SWIM Across the Sound will host its Annual Sports Gala and Auction benefiting Connecticut police, fire, and correction officers, EMS personnel, public safety dispatchers, and their families battling cancer. Retired NFL Star, Merril Hoge, will be the guest speaker at the event on March 20, 2019, at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven, CT. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut is the title sponsor of this event. More

Tickets Announced for Spring for Abilis Gala

Abilis, a non-profit organization that provides services and supports for individuals with special needs and their families, will hold its Spring for Abilis gala event on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., at the Woodway Country Club in Darien, Connecticut. The evening will include a champagne reception, cocktails, dinner, and dancing, as well as silent and live auctions. Live music will be provided by ETA Music. Funds raised at the Spring for Abilis Gala will help Abilis provide essential services and support for more than 700 individuals of all ages with special needs and their families. The tax deductible tickets start at $350 and can be reserved online at 501auctions.com/spring4abilis.

New Trustee Joins the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum’s Board

Patsy Brescia, LMMM Chairman of the Board of Trustees said, “We are thrilled that Trudy Dujardin has joined the Museum’s Board of Trustees. Norwalk Symphony Young Artists Festival
The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the winner of its 7th Annual Young Artists Concert Competition! Twelve-year-old pianist Hudson Ragins won the event with his expressive performance of the third movement of Beethoven’s Concerto in C Major, No. 1 for piano. Hudson began piano study at age seven and has studied with Wilton teacher Yoshie Akimoto, Steinway Artist, since he was 9. He is home schooled.

Applications Open for Students to Apply for the Abilis 32nd Annual Peter Bloomer Citizenship Award Award Honors Middle and High School Students for their Leadership for People with Disabilities
Abilis, the non-profit organization that provides services and support for individuals with special needs and their families, has opened its application process for the Peter Bloomer Citizenship Award for graduating middle and high school students. The award is presented to a graduating student who demonstrates an outstanding level of sensitivity toward people with disabilities through leadership, involvement and participation in activities that benefit citizens with disabilities. Nominations are due to Abilis by March 4, 2019, and winners will be announced at the Abilis Annual Meeting on April 3, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenwich, Connecticut. The application is available at www.abilis.us. Applications must be mailed or delivered by March 4, 2019, to Lisa Bria, Abilis, 50 Glenville Street, Greenwich CT 06831.
